The History behind our Company
Jukeboxes Unlimited started life nearly 30 years ago in the early 1980s, some 15 years after the final Jukebox Jury show. Madonna was about to make her debut, Michael Jackson recorded the all time best selling Thriller album and Vinyl was soon to to face near extinction at the hands of the digital compact disc. Things where certainly about to change for Jukeboxes!.
Jukeboxes Unlimited was founded by enthusiasts Fred Pentney and Mary Guy, based near Market Harborough in the peaceful Leicestershire countryside, where from modest beginnings a well respected Jukebox restoration and repair business would grow.
Demand for good quality refurbished Vinyl Jukeboxes to be used in the home provided a continuous market place in which the company could expand and a new lease of life was brought to many redundant Jukeboxes that would have otherwise perished at the end of their commercial lives.
Electrical expertise became a growing need within the business and a commercial Jukebox Engineering Manager, Mike Brooks, was appointed as Chief Engineer. His knowledge in the electrical and electronics fields and experience as manager of a Jukebox servicing department brought highly valuable skills into the business.
The next 15 years saw the company make steady progress establishing Jukeboxes Unlimited as the major Jukebox supplier of new and used machines in the UK. With the development a high quality web site and strong web presence it was now easy for anyone with internet access to find the best Jukeboxes in the country with just a few "clicks".
A complete change to the structure of the business took place in 2006 with the formation of a Limited Company by Ted and Caroline White, which purchased Jukeboxes Unlimited in August that year.
With additional investment a further showroom and workshop facility was opened in north Cambridgeshire in addition to the original site in Leicestershire. Administration, spare part and record services transfered to the new head office location to provide a more efficient operation.
The company continues to trade as Jukeboxes Unlimited and uphold the values and service that have earned it the position of the top Jukebox supplier in the UK.
We still believe it's important that potential customers are able to see our Jukeboxes in the "flesh" and we display a wide selection of new and used machines in our showrooms. Someone is always on hand to demonstrate the Jukeboxes and answer any questions our visitors may have or offer advice if needed. We are located "out of town" making getting to us easy with ample parking right outside the showrooms.
Since its formation the new Company has worked closely with our major suppliers of new Jukeboxes, Wurlitzer in Germany and Rock-Ola in the USA, to promote their Jukeboxes and provide all the after sales services customers would expect from the top manufacturers in the business.
This culminated with our appointment as Wurlitzer's Official UK Importer of their range of Jukeboxes to both trade and retail customers, as well as becoming the distributor for spare parts and the UK service centre for the product range.
We have also been awarded the position as the service hub and spare parts provider for Rock-ola in the UK and Europe, CEO Glenn Streeter announcing the appointment in a Rock-ola press release in March 2009.
Obviously we are very proud to receive such trusted positions with the worlds two best known and most recognised Jukebox manufacturers. Jukeboxes Unlimited is fully committed to the supply and support of their products, holding stock of new machines and spare parts from both companies.
The last few years business has exceeded the expectations of the management team and the Cambridgeshire location has proved a great success, with further expansion planned for the site. Plans are also underway to increase the level of services we are able to provide for both new and old customers alike as we approach the 30th year of Jukeboxes Unlimited.
The original Leicestershire site closed its doors for the last time at the end of 2010 and all Company operations are now based at our Cambridgeshire location with additional restoration facilities at the Jukebox Hospital in Corby, Northants.
The Jukebox Hospital is supported by three professional engineers who are trained in electro-mechanics and solid state and valve electronics and collectively have over 60 years of experience. Over the last few years strong links have formed between the two Companies. Most of our restored Classic machines will now have had at least some of the process completed by the Jukebox Hospital.
Although officially retired in 2008, Mike Brooks will often pop in to cast an eye over the workshops and provide training and advice on technical issues for repairs and restorations.
Jukeboxes Unlimited remains a family owned and run business, we love our Jukeboxes and hope you will love them too, we look forward to the future and continuing to bring music into our customers lives for many years to come.
Ted and Caroline White.
